In her letter of recommendation, Dorothy Peters – no relation of Les’, but one of Impact Ministries’ original board members – writes:

“From the beginning, Les and Rita were intent on equipping Guatemalans themselves to take leadership. Over the past 16 years of Impact Ministries’ operation, they have done just that. Coming, as they were, into a patriarchal, hierarchical “macho” culture, they have intentionally lived out a “listening and releasing others to lead” way of leading. Working respectfully with each village, not imposing. Greg and I have personally seen how they relate to the (Guatemalan) leaders and principals (women and men!). How these leaders relate to the teachers. How the teachers relate to their students. Each one of them permeated with Les & Rita’s leadership DNA. DNA that had been transmitted to them . . . at CBI”

From that first school with 100 students, Les & Rita’s vision for Guatemala has grown amazingly. Impact Ministries is now building it’s 11th school. We’ve developed a medical and dental clinic to serve their students and the surrounding community. We’re in process of building a children’s home for abandoned babies. Four local church congregations have been established around Tactic, and short-term teams continue to contribute to various development projects.

We’re thankful for the Les & Rita’s servant leadership that evidences itself in all the work at Impact Ministries. And we’re thankful to all of you who have come alongside Les & Rita’s vision to see God honoured in Guatemala through Impact Ministries!
