eMi – Orphanage and Chisac II Survey & Design

eMi at workAlmost three years ago in 2012, an Orphanage Committee was formed in Tactic – people passionate to respond to the needs of orphaned and abandoned babies. Many meetings of planning, discussing possibilities, and calling out to God in prayer, led to Impact Ministries embracing the idea of building an orphanage. We eagerly desire to live out scriptures such as Isaiah 1:17a, which says “Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless…”In the fall of 2014, God, in His goodness, doubled the size of Impact’s Chisac property to 40 acres by providing land right beside the current site. God moved on people’s hearts, funds were donated, and the new property was purchased! We now have ample space to build an Orphanage!

In Dec. 2014, we applied to Engineering Ministries International (eMi) to have a team of professionals come to Tactic to survey the land, and design the orphanage. We were told that the earliest a team could come would be June. Then within a week, eMi notified us that they had a cancellation, and that they had a team ready to come to Tactic in February! What a wonderful surprise, truly a miracle! We had an amazing group of surveyors, architects, and engineers give of their time and expertise to put together comprehensive plans for the orphanage. They worked in collaboration with our Orphanage Committee to design a home that is fitting for the Guatemalan culture.

We are excited as all of this is unfolding, and as we anticipate building the orphanage very soon! (Written by Sandra Stephenson, May 26, 2015)
