Short Term Missions

What Do Short-Term Mission Teams Do?

If a doctor comes to Tactic as a member of a Short-Term Mission Team we will include a medical clinic aspect to the team’s experience while in Guatemala.   It is truly a wonderful way in which we can give the message of God's fatherly love and reflect the compassion of Jesus to people who have physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We hold clinics with a doctor or dentist or a medical campaign with a whole team of doctors and nurses. Many lives are touched, the Body of Christ grows, and doors for ministry are opened. If you are a doctor, nurse or dentist who desires to serve the Lord in Guatemala contact the Impact Ministries’ office for information of how you can be involved.

With the support of the Guatemalan Impact Ministries personnel, your services, skills and gifts will accomplish much!!! Make inquiries by e-mailing  one of our representatives.

Every Short-Term Mission Team has a component of evangelism in its agenda. Evangelism efforts in Guatemala bear much fruit for the Kingdom of God as the harvest-field is ripe and hearts are crying out for relief from the bondages of the enemy.  The evangelism methods and tools teams use are the Jesus Film, street evangelism, sharing tracts, dramas, and testimonies. Ministry in churches will also give team members opportunities to encourage and pray for our Guatemalan pastors, brothers and sisters.

Coming alongside the masons and foremen, teams give a helping hand to construction projects in support of existing local ministries. Teams have built churches, Christian schools, homes for pastors and other dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Guatemalan Christians are encouraged beyond words when North American Christians serve the Body of Christ in this way. Impact Ministries currently has four ongoing construction projects to which teams are able to contribute.

Fifty percent of Guatemalans are under the age of seventeen. There are children everywhere!!! With every team, we have the opportunity of reaching out to children with stories, crafts, songs, puppets, games and special times of introducing them to Jesus.

Many evenings, teams are encouraged to open their hearts and share their feelings in a time of debriefing and reflection. These are special times when the Holy Spirit speaks to hearts, when new commitments are made and new freedoms in Christ are found. Short-Term Mission Team members often find that although they came to give; they receive an abundance in return.

Coming to a Latin American Country would not be complete if one didn't take in the rich cultural diversity. The 23 Mayan people groups are each unique and have a colorful history. Teams enjoy the experience of shopping in the local markets, mixing with the indigenous people and savoring typical foods.
