God Blesses a Faithful FamilyMeet Carlos and Encarnacion and their family. For years they struggled to provide for their family of seven children. Carlos worked for $4 a day in agriculture whenever work was available - about half the time. Encarnacion cooked and maintained their modest home, and did a little weaving to supplement the family income. The weaving, however, did not bring in very much money at the local market. Margarita, their oldest daughter, came to know the Lord through the church led by Les and Rita Peters. She then led her Mother and some of her siblings to the Lord. Carlos, her father, accepted the Lord a year and a half later and then the whole family became faithful members of the Rio de Vida Church. A few years ago, the family was struggling financially and we invited Encarnacion to weave table accessories that the ministry could market to visiting short-term mission teams. As her weaving began to sell and the demand began to grow, Carlos and Encarnacion recognized that this was God’s provision and blessing and they began to work daily to produce colorful table runners, napkins, and place mats. Carlos knew that weaving is not a man's job, but he realized that this was an opportunity that God was providing. He therefore asked his wife to teach him how to weave. Now both Carlos and Encarnacion weave lovely table sets for Impact Ministries. They also accept mission teams into their home to show them their work and to teach them how to make tayuyos; a traditional Guatemalan food. With each team they also share their testimony of how God has blessed them by providing them a livelihood. Carlos and Encarnacion are faithfully raising their children in the ways of the Lord. They have been able to see their children grow into disciples of Christ. Each one receives their schooling in one of the Impact Ministries’ schools. Impact Ministries would like to give you the opportunity to enjoy some of Carlos and Encarnacion's handiwork. Decorate your table with handmade Guatemalan patterns and help support your Guatemalan brothers and sisters in Christ. |
